I had talked with one of my Indian friend 3/4 months ago. During chatting, I said, ''Buddha was born in our country, we have sufficient evidence for this, still you Indians claim and create pseudo evidence to prove that Buddha was born in India''. He replied-"I am partially agreed to you my friend, I don't like the way that Indian government claim, But I think the reality is that SIDDHARTHA GAUTAM was definitely born in your country, but he became Lord Buddha in India, What if I say Siddhartha Gautam was born in Nepal but Lord Buddha in Bodhgaya India?''. At that moment I completely oppose him. I replied though political leaders don't think about Nepal we Nepalese don't want to share our Buddha with you. Respecting my sentiments he seems to be agreed.
Though I replied as I am completely disagreed with him, later I started to ponder . We claim that Buddha was born in our country, but is this sufficient to just have a monument in Kapilvasthu? Have we ever thought where are all those Buddhist principles? Who is Gautam Buddha without his philoshopy and his practical paths? We just want to bow in front him, at the same time we ignores all his principles and values. The Noble Eightfold Path of Gautam Buddha describes the way to the end of suffering, as it was laid out by Siddhartha Gautama. It is a practical guideline to ethical and mental development with the goal of freeing the individual from attachments and delusions; and it finally leads to understanding the truth about all things. Let's look through the eightfold paths of Buddha based on three things i.e Wisdom (1st two), Ethical conduct (2nd 3) and Mental Development (last 3).
- RIGHT VIEW
- RIGHT INTENTION
- RIGHT SPEECH
- RIGHT ACTION
- RIGHT LIVELIHOOD
- RIGHT EFFORT
- RIGHT MINDFULNESS
- RIGHT CONCENTRATION
Last but not the least, I would like to ask all politicians to make commitment for peace and unity from this Buddha Purnima and to think about Nepal's future and Nepali people majority of whom still have hand to mouth problem and are under poverty line. May lord Buddha bless we all Nepalese. May we can follow all Buddhist values and norms and proudly say that Buddha was born in our country. Antagonism ragging in Nepal assists for those who thinks against us.
you could have replied him that his Gandhi gained his principles while he was in south Africa ,so can south africa clam that Gandhi is from south Africa ? !
